Nate Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer

Nate has over 20 years of experience in life insurance management. During his 14 years at Allstate Financial Nate held numerous management positions including major technology, process, and distribution initiatives for Allstate?s Strategic Operations. Prior to joining Maple Life Financial, Nate was Vice President at ZeBU / Integrated Insurance Technologies where he led Sales and Marketing activities in addition to providing operations consulting services for a number of the largest U.S. life insurance carriers. Nate is a graduate of Trinity College.


Gordon Taylor, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer

Gordon has more than 20 years of financial management experience. Prior to joining Maple Life Financial, Gordon served as Chief Financial Officer for BenefitNation a Bertelsmann company. Previously he was Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for Congressional Quarterly. Gordon holds B.S. degrees in both Business Administration and Economics from West Virginia University, and earned his MBA from Averett University. In addition, Gordon is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor.


Kathleen A. Birrane, Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Kathleen?s legal career spans more than 20 years and encompasses a broad range of areas to include civil, criminal, and regulatory matters with a focus on complex commercial litigation, regulatory compliance, risk management, licensing, and insurance transactional work.

Prior to Maple Life Financial, Kathleen served as Principal Counsel for the Maryland Insurance Administration from October 2002 through November 2007. She served as the primary legal advisor to the Maryland Insurance Commissioner as well as all units of the Maryland Insurance Administration. In this role, her duties included the interpretation of all laws as they relate to the Insurance Article, Annotate Code of Maryland, providing legal advice to the regulations and administrative actions. She represented the Maryland Insurance Commissioner before State and Federal courts and oversaw a staff of nine Assistant Attorneys General who also acted as legal advisors to the Commissioner and the Administration.

Prior to her appointment to the Maryland Insurance Administration, Kathleen was a principal in the law firm of Kramon & Graham, P.A. She worked at the firm from 1984 through 2002. Her practice concentrated in commercial, tort and insurance related litigation and transactions, including State and Federal regulatory matters, risk management, coverage disputes, ERISA, self funding, agent/broker issues, and professional malpractice defense.

Kathleen is a graduate of the College of Notre Dame of Maryland where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. She received her Juris Doctorate with Honors from the University of Maryland School of Law.


Eric Lund, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Eric had spent over 25 years in business development, and sales management at regional and national levels in the banking, brokerage and insurance industries. Prior to joining Maple Life Financial, Eric served as Vice President-National Sales Manager at GE Financial Services (Genworth), where he was responsible for business development and distribution of fixed and variable annuities, mutual funds, life insurance and Long Term Care for GE?s bank channel. Eric also served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Allfinanz an insurance oriented software development company and as Program Director for Alternative Investments at HomeFed Bank where he managed a sales force of 75 registered representatives selling annuities and mutual funds through the bank?s 200 branch network. Eric is a graduate of California State University Chico.


Kevin P. Schuler, Vice President Capital Market Operations

Kevin brings nearly 20 years experience in management, marketing, and product design. Prior to joining Maple Life Financial, Kevin served as Vice President of Marketing for Wolf and Cohen Financial Services, an M Financial member firm. Kevin earned his Bachelors from Towson State University.


Mario Coniglio, Vice President of Servicing and IT

Mario has 20 years experience in information technology, business operations, and management. He has worked closely with large commercial insurance companies, health care carriers, and with state and federal government entities. Prior to joining Maple Life Financial, Mario managed one of the largest flood insurance processing organizations in the country. Mario is a graduate of the State University of New York at Oswego.


Robert Hague, Chief Underwriter

Robert?s distinguished underwriting career spans more than 40 years. Prior to joining Maple Life Financial, Robert held various key management positions including chief underwriter and vice president of Mass Mutual Insurance Company. Robert earned a B.A. degree from the University of Massachusetts.


Sharmaine Miller, Vice President of LexNet

Sharmaine has more than 20 years experience in the insurance industry. Prior to joining MLF LexServ, she held a number of leadership positions at Allstate Insurance Company in Northbrook, Illinois including, serving as the Chief Operations Officer for Allstate Life Insurance Company of New York and leading Six Sigma methodology deployments within the broader organization in her role as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt. Sharmaine earned a B.A. degree from the University of Delaware.


Mark Todd, Vice President of Capital Markets

Mark Todd has an extensive international background in the financial service industry spanning more than 20 years. Over the past two years Mark has been involved in the life settlement space as the managing director of a life settlement provider. Mark brings a wealth of experience to Maple Life Financial. Mark?s skills of growing new products, building new teams, and developing strong relationships with leading financial institutions are well documented throughout his career. Mark earned an MBA Executive degree from the Australian School of Graduate Management and a B.A. degree from the University of New South Wales.
